A talk show hostess and her boyfriend begin looking into a suspicious stage magician whose performances are built around gruesome onstage illusions. As they investigate, they discover that his act may depend on more than theatrical trickery: he appears to possess the power to hypnotize people and manipulate their thoughts, using mind control to make his violent spectacles disturbingly real.
