Maurice Flitcroft is a dreamer and unrelenting optimist with an unlikely ambition: to compete in golf at the highest level. Though he is a complete novice, he manages to gain entry to the 1976 British Open Golf Championship qualification round. His attempt leads to the worst round in Open history, but it also turns him into an unexpected folk hero.
