During the war in Afghanistan, Afghan interpreter Ahmed risks everything after an ambush leaves US Army Sergeant John Kinley badly injured. Carrying Kinley across miles of punishing terrain, Ahmed goes to extraordinary lengths to save his life. Later, when Kinley discovers that Ahmed and his family have not received the promised safe passage to America, he returns to the war zone to repay his debt.
