A young widow in Wisconsin is startled when an alien arrives on Earth and remakes himself as a double of her late husband. He asks her to drive him across the country to Arizona, drawing her into an impossible situation as government forces try to stop them. During the journey, fear and grief give way to an unexpected bond between two people from very different worlds.
