Lou Bloom, a petty thief desperate for work, forces his way into the high-pressure world of L.A. crime journalism. As he learns how to turn violent incidents into compelling news footage, his ambition pushes him closer to the events he is supposed to record. With help from Nina, a veteran TV-news producer, Lou begins to blur the line between observer and participant.
