Frank Stone is a jewel thief cut off from the world around him. Deeply disturbed, antisocial, and timid despite his criminal life, he moves through everything without a trace of joy or a sense of humor. Nothing seems able to reach him or change the bleak way he sees life, until he wakes from a deep coma and is forced into a different kind of awareness.
