During the Depression, Jimmy Gralton returns home to Ireland after ten years of exile in America. Troubled by the poverty and oppression he finds around him, his activist spirit begins to stir again. Hoping to revive a place that once brought the community together, he reopens his beloved dance hall, but the decision quickly draws opposition from the local parish.
