London gangster Jack Carter returns to Newcastle after his brother dies in what is reported as a car accident. In town for the funeral, Carter refuses to accept the official explanation and begins pressing his brother’s friends and acquaintances for answers. As he digs into the circumstances of the death, he becomes determined to uncover who was responsible and why.
