In Peter Hall’s film adaptation of Shakespeare’s comedy, four young lovers, a troupe of amateur actors and a world of fairies cross paths in a moonlit forest. Filmed in and around an English country house and performed by actors from the Royal Shakespeare Company, the story follows their comic entanglements as romance, rehearsal and enchantment collide over one strange summer night.
